Hossein Sabet Baktash (Persian: حسین ثابت , Born in Mashhad) is an Iranian businessman and Persian carpet dealer[1] who owns Sabet International Trading Co.. Sabet has a BSc in engineering[2] and resides in Berlin, Germany.[3] In 1981 Sabet bought the Berlin newspaper Der Abend.[4] Sabet International Trading Co. has numerous subsidiaries such as the Sabet Hotels Group, notable for owning many hotels in Kish Island, including the Dariush Grand Hotel[5] and 11 hotels in Europe including many on the Canary Islands.[6] Sabet also owns the Kish Dolphinarium[7] and an amusement park on the island.[8]
Sabet also holds exclusive rights to organize horse race competitions throughout Iran via his company ASB Iranian. Sabet is also set to build the first solar powered hotel in the Middle East on Kish Island, Iran. Koroush Hotel will be 7 star and will cost $520 million dollars and will have 500 rooms, 23 floors in an area of 100,000 square meters. The hotel is set to be complete in October 2009.[9][10][11] Sabet also has a 25% share of Qeshm Air.
