Shaygan Kheradpir (born December, 1960) is a global technology leader who served in CIO and CTO roles in Verizon Communications between 2000 and 2010. In January 2011, Kheradpir was named COO of Barclays PLC‘s global retail banking division.[1]

Kheradpir was among the first to note the effects of commoditization on IT,[2] and the corresponding need to orient IT programs around the consumerization of technology, in which consumers, not business, drive technology innovation.[3][4][5] At Verizon, he led development of systems and products that created the FiOS network,[6] a $20B program that positioned Verizon and the U.S. at the forefront of consumer Internet and interactive services via fiber to the home technology.[7][8][9][10]

In 2007, Shaygan Kheradpir was named to CIO Magazine’s Hall of Fame[11] for early adoption of consumer IT both within the enterprise and for the external market. In 2010, he was appointed to the board of the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), known as the Visiting Committee on Advanced Technology.[12] Kheradpir is a member of the Cornell University Engineering Council.[13] He has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, has written multiple journal papers, and holds several U.S. patents.
