Nader Modanlo is chairman and president of Final Analysis, a Latham, Md.-based mobile satellite communications company created in 1992 that is one of the so-called “Little LEO” (low-Earth-orbit) systems. Modanlo and his partner, Michael Ahan, founded Final Analysis Communication Services in 1993, and subsequently received a license from the FCC to deploy and operate the FAISAT global constellation of low-Earth-orbit satellites for mobile and fixed digital data services by 2002.

Modanlo has directed the company’s strategic planning and partnership efforts. Those activities last week led to the selection of Raytheon Co. [RTNA] to develop the total network ground infrastructure for the FAISAT global wireless data system. Raytheon also has made a significant cash equity investment in Final Analysis. General Dynamics Information Systems was selected last year as the overall system engineering and integration partner for the FAISAT system and was named prime contractor for the ground segment. Raytheon will work closely with General Dynamics on the ground system.
