Mr. Nader F. Darehshori co-founded Aptius Education Inc. and served as its Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President. Mr. Darehshori also Co-founded Cambium Learning Inc. and serves on its board of Directors. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Cambium Learning Inc., where Mr. Darehshori was responsible for setting its strategic direction and leading its growth as a premiere education company delivering research and evidence-based outcomes for students at risk … for academic failure.
He served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company (Also known as Houghton Mifflin Co.) since 1990 and served as its President since October 1991. Mr. Darehshori began his career in 1966, as a Sales Representative for Houghton Mifflin’s College Division, Senior Vice President since 1987. Prior to his experience at Houghton Mifflin, he was an elementary school teacher in Iran. He serves as Chairman of Boston Public Library Foundation. Mr. Darehshori serves as a Director of CGU Insurance Group and Trust Company, State Street Boston Corporation, the Association of American Publishers, Cambium Learning, Inc., Aviva USA Corporation and Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding. He serves as a Trustee of Wellesley College, the WGBH Educational Foundation and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He is also a member of the EdNET Advisory Board and the Massachusetts Business Roundtable Board. Mr. Darehshori served as Director of State Street Bank and Trust Company, a Corporate Trustee of American Bar Association Members State Street Collective Trust – Balanced Fund. He served as a Director of State Street Corp., from 1990 to May 20, 2009.
He served as a Director of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company since 1989. As a noted public speaker on sales and leadership topics, he presents to many schools and businesses, including: Women in Business, BookBuilders, and the Association of American Educational Publishers. He has been inducted into the Association of Educational Publishers Hall of Fame and received the 2003 Charles E. Rogerson Award for Community Service from the Rogerson Communities. Mr. Darehshori received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1966 and an honorary degree of Doctor of Commercial Science from Suffolk University in 1992.
